We’ve been back for a few days now so I’d better put up the last post for the holiday. This is Ayutthaya, Bangkok, Brunei and finally, Auckland. Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!
The first temple we visited and we couldn’t get to it because of recent flooding.
As close as we could get
I’d look like that too if my bus got stuck in the flood
Chiang Mai flood is front page news. We were riding down that street only a few days ago
Probably the most photographed thing in Ayutthaya
Despite the throngs of tourists, monks still find a peaceful space.
“I remember when the Burmese destroyed all these temples”
Poor Buddha is looking a little worse for wear after 600 years and a few wars
A small section of just one wall of one temple in one city.
Survived about as well as Christchurch. Wee bit older though
Khmer and Thai style in one temple
They really love their gold around here…
The gold was getting a bit blinding after a while
Even more gold! The domes are plated in 18ct
So glad we booked the ‘harbour view’ room in Auckland.
Had to make sure no one could look up my dress. Should be OK.
Facing my fears – but still holding on to the rail pretty tightly.
