This summer, we planned to WALK. But to get to our chosen walking destination, we had to do an awful lot of driving. We headed down the east coast of the South Island until we hit Kaikoura, where we turned inland. There were a few opportunities to stop and enjoy the scenery, but to be honest, it was a bit of a slog.
Imagine our surprise though, at the beginning of day 2 when we spotted a HUGE pod of dolphins leaping out of the water. A lovely beginning to what would be an epic trip
