I only quickly did up our photos from Coromandel over Christmas, so here’s a few more. Road trip top tip: Always let google map find you a scenic route. It’s well worth it, even if gmaps can’t pronounce Maori names Central North Island farmhouses. So quaint Mangaweka’s international airport runway is a wee bit short, so they park on top of cafes. Small towns in NZ all seem to have a large “thing”. Sometimes it’s fruit, or maybe fish. In Taihape, it’s a gumboot I was very lucky to get a couple of quick snaps of Mt Ngauruhoe from the Desert Road. Within a few minutes the cloud had completely obscured the peak.
